How pool companies make money from chemicals

There are a lot of different products and brands to choose from when it comes to swimming pool maintenance, which can make it difficult for you to know where to begin. Maintenance is a fundamental aspect of owning a pool that you must stay on top of.

Just because your pool water is clear doesn’t mean it’s safe. Some microorganisms that are invisible to the naked eye can negatively impact your health and can be present in even the clearest of water. Most pool systems combat microorganisms by using chemicals.

For years, Chlorine was a swimming pool’s best friend. It is responsible for effectively eliminating a wide range of pathogens that deposit in the water. Chlorine is both economical and easy to use which allows pool companies to generate a good source of income after installing a pool system.

There are two types of chlorine that are used: Trichlor, which comes in powder or tablet form, which is added to the pool’s chlorinator and it will do the rest. Trichlor needs to be added on a regular basis in order to keep the pool sanitized from microorganisms. The other type is Dichlor, which is a strong oxidizer, frequently used to shock the pool after an extended period of neglect, after having more than the usual amount of people in the pool or following heavy rain.

On top of the Chlorine, other chemicals are also used; Borates is used to help stabilize the pH level in your pool water, as well as muriatic acid. This chemical is a strong acid used to control pH levels by lowering pH levels in water. As you can see, a lot of chemicals go into your pool and should be handled with care by trained professionals as many of these chemicals are health-hazards. This can become very costly in the long run.

With the NatureSwim freshwater pool system you don't need to worry about additional chemical costs, harmful bacterias and pathogens still being in your pool, nor complicated maintenance and monthly running costs for chemicals.
